9 Things To Get Excited About Over Christmas

It’s just two days before Christmaaaaaas!! In case you can’t tell, we’re a little excited. Whether you’re still busy shopping or are sitting smugly by your perfectly decorated Christmas tree, we’re sure you won’t be able to deny that the Christmas hysteria is officially everywhere.

If you’re still hard at work in the office, we salute you. Its not easy when it comes to crunch time we know, but we implore you to just hang on that. Bit. Longer.

To help you along with that, we’ve put together this list of things to get excited about over Christmas. We’ll sure you agree with most if not all of them.

  1. Time off from work

This is the big one. We’ve all been grafting hard over the last few weeks, both in work and in the prep for Christmas. It’s now time to kick back, relax, and say a big “So long” to the office for almost a whole week. (Maybe more, if you’re super lucky).

2. Food, food and more food.

Christmas is not only a time when it’s acceptable to eat copious amounts of food with little risk of judgement, it also happens to be some of our FAVOURITE food. Turkey, mince pies, yule log, sausage rolls, pastries, CHEESE…oh lordy.

Just be sure to have the sweatpants handy. When in Rome…

3. New things

Okay, so it’s not ALL about the presents. But who doesn’t love sparkly new things to wear/show off/play with/do/sleep in?? Excuse us, but we want to live like children again. We’re out to make the most of any gifts we get.

4. Sweaters

Sweaters are not only the comfiest things ever, but they also hide a multitude of sins. Just as well, as during the festive season, all concept of the summer bod has gone out of the window.

The good news is that throughout winter, sweaters and sweater dresses become a total wardrobe trend. Well, that’s lucky.

5. The marvellous TV

What is it about Christmas that suddenly makes TV so damn good? During those days you’ll likely be spending at home, each and every channel becomes a myriad of pure quality viewing.

If television was like this the rest of the year, we’d probably never get anything done.

6. Catching up with friends

Christmas is such a golden opportunity to catch up with friends, as its usually the one time of the year when everybody has a bit of time off. Although family is important, you just can’t beat a good night out with the pals. So hit up those old buddies and book in some quality time.

7. Home Alone…again and again

There’s something about the Home Alone movies we just can’t get enough of. Although we’ve been watching the film for around 15 years, every time Christmas rolls around it’s like seeing it for the first time. And we love that.

8. Sleeping

Sleep: you need it. Whether you’ve been partying a little too much or have just been too busy to get your normal amount of shut-eye, Christmas is a perfect time to catch up.

Unless, of course, you’re planning on spending the holiday sleeping as little as possible.

9. Drinking before noon

Correct us if we’re wrong, but Christmas seems to be the only time of year that it’s acceptable to start drinking before noon. On Christmas Day in particular it seems to be a tradition, if not an obligation, to have a glass of champers with breakfast or even a beer. And for those not working, the tradition continues from then until New Y
